When an alternative medicine product “detoxifies” what exactly does it do?

I went to an alternative medicine store yesterday and a lot of the products claimed that it "detoxifies" the body. What exactly does it remove? What toxins are they talking about?

    All they do is detoxify your wallet of those nasty greenbacks

    Detoxification is pseudo-scientific bullshit. It is closer in nature to a religious ideology than anything else
