Jonathan Miller offers a fact-rich fascinating insight into the nature of health care and the world of alternative medicine and its relationship with the man who is trying to stay healthy. In a short span of time, he talks summarizes about the limitations and usefulness of modern medicine and emphasizes the need for bringing the patient into confidence by being honest. He co-authored Pig Pills, Inc. and has spoken out on medical quakery on many media outlets, including PBS, CTV, CBC and a documentary on Discovery Health. We’ll also give updates on Bill C51 which could better CAM regulations. Dr. Carol Parlow will give a primer on critical evaluation of medical recommendations. Dr. Terry Polevoy will address the lack of support Canadians get when they report medical quackery.Dr. Terry Polevoy has spent the last decade keeping tabs on health quackery across Canada. A long lonely battle, Polevoy has come to realize that Canada needs an agency that will aggressively take on consumer health fraud. Bill C-51 is that small beginning, a Bill which could improve CAM regulations and is fiercely opposed by the Natural Health Coalition.
